This next destination might pique your interest: Al Wadi Abha, an ambitious mountainous giga-project set in the scenic Aseer region of southwestern Saudi Arabia. Designed to be a mega tourism hub and urban centre, Al Wadi Abha is positioned to captivate local and international visitors.
A Vast Landscape of Opportunity
Spanning an impressive 2.5 million square meters, Al Wadi Abha is a monumental endeavour that includes over 16 kilometres of waterfront, with 30 per cent of the area dedicated to lush green spaces. This impressive project has earned its nickname, the “Arabian Highlands,” thanks to its breathtaking natural beauty and expansive vistas.
The project was launched on October 18 by His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. With the support of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the newly established Ardara company, Al Wadi Abha is set to transform the region into a vibrant tourism hotspot.
A Natural Marvel
Nestled within the province of Abha, known for its stunning Mount Soudah—Saudi Arabia’s highest peak at 2,910 meters—Al Wadi Abha offers visitors a refreshing climate and awe-inspiring views reminiscent of Scotland’s misty landscapes. Combining mountains and green spaces creates a unique environment perfect for relaxation and adventure.
Activities and Experiences
At the heart of Al Wadi Abha’s vision is sustainability. The project will enhance the quality of life for its visitors through open green spaces, waterfront activities, and extensive sports trails. With 17 kilometres dedicated to recreational paths and various cultural and community activities, Al Wadi aims to provide a comprehensive experience for all.
Phase one of the project will introduce five distinct districts—Al Bihar, Jacaranda Boulevard, Wadi Waterfalls, and Tilal Al Wadi—each offering unique experiences, residential options, and hospitality services. Over the next three years, 2,000 residential units will be developed, creating a lively community atmosphere.
Accommodations and Amenities
Visitors to Al Wadi Abha will enjoy a range of accommodations, from modern high-end apartments and villas to luxury hotels. Commercial and business spaces will also be designed with the highest international standards, all while respecting the region’s cultural identity and history.
In conclusion, Al Wadi Abha is more than just a project; it’s a vision for a sustainable future that blends nature, culture, and modern living. As this incredible development unfolds, it promises to become one of the premier destinations in the region, attracting adventurers, families, and tourists from around the globe.
