Waterfall East is fast becoming the new Rustenburg CBD, with significant developments in the area recently. It has transformed into a major economic hub with various commercial, residential, and recreational projects designed specifically to boost the local economy and improve residents’ quality of life

Office buildings, retail outlets, and restaurants are attracting business and creating job opportunities in the area. Modern housing options include apartments and townhouses to accommodate the growing population. This area has also enjoyed major infrastructure improvements, with upgraded roads, public transport facilities, and utility services to support the new developments and ensure smooth connectivity.

Green spaces such as parks, gardens, and recreational areas have been incorporated, and community facilities like schools and healthcare centres cater to residents’ overall needs.

Some of the last prime commercial properties in this key node, situated directly opposite the Waterfall Mall, were auctioned. The sale comprised four established (but not proclaimed) townships totalling 22.1213ha.

The first lot, about 5.0160 ha, is ideal for a big box retail development. Lot 2, about 1.2500 ha, is zoned for offices and wholesale trade and is about 2.1600 ha. The third lot, around 2.1600 ha, is development land, while the final lot, around 2.0300ha, is zoned Residential 2, with the balance being public open space.

Thanks to the agricultural, mining, and tourism offerings in the Rustenburg area, the city’s business sector continues to thrive. The development of Waterfall East into a new CBD has certainly enhanced the city’s overall appeal, attracting investors and contributing to sustainable urban growth.
