The completion of the seventh and final phase of the Pearls of Umhlanga marks a significant milestone in this long-standing development.
With a R200 million investment into Pearls Shore, the project enhances its prestigious status, adding 66 new apartments to the property. The collaboration with The Capital Hotels Apartments & Resorts further solidifies its position as a premier destination, with The Capital expanding its hotel operations to over 200 rooms by May.
Anant Singh, a key figure behind the development, highlights the project’s impact on the Umhlanga region, turning it into a notable location over the 20-year span with an overall investment of R4 billion. The partnership with The Capital Hotels has been mutually beneficial, with high occupancy rates and considerable capital appreciation.
Marc Wachsberger from The Capital Hotels expresses confidence in the strategic expansion at The Pearls, ensuring continued success by leveraging existing success rather than seeking new locations. The Pearls Shore introduces a sale and leaseback model for 44 units, while the rest will remain under the developers’ ownership, all contributing to the hotel’s rental pool.
Amidst these developments, Southern Sun Hotels is eyeing further expansion in Umhlanga with plans for the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and a new site near the Gateway Theatre of Shopping. This indicates a promising future for hospitality and real estate in the region.
