Growthpoint Properties and Tricolt officially marked the groundbreaking of Olympus Sandton on 26 February 2026, signalling the rise of a landmark hospitality-led, mixed-use development at the highest point of the Sandton Summit precinct, overlooking South Africa’s premier financial hub, Sandton Central. The project will deliver 527 apartments across two sculptural towers, Athena and Apollo, complemented by a signature Marble Hospitality restaurant and sky bar, boutique hotel, resort-style leisure facilities, landscaped sky gardens and a street-level Pantry by Marble deli and coffee offering. With more than 85% of units already sold since its February 2025 launch and sales exceeding R1.4 billion, the development reflects strong market demand for walkable, integrated mixed-use living environments.

In his address, Estienne de Klerk, SA CEO of Growthpoint Properties South Africa, positioned Olympus as a strategic milestone in the revitalisation of the Sandton Summit precinct. This area is experiencing renewed investment and momentum after a relatively subdued period. He emphasised that the development forms part of a broader precinct vision focused on creating a safe, vibrant and integrated live-work-play environment in close proximity to offices, retail, transport and lifestyle amenities. De Klerk noted that strengthening residential and hospitality infrastructure within Sandton Summit is essential to sustaining Sandton’s status as South Africa’s premier office node and economic hub, framing Olympus as both a placemaking initiative and a long-term investment in precinct quality and urban integration.

Tim Kloeck, Tricolt Group Chairman, highlighted the project’s significance as a gateway development into the Sandton Summit precinct and as the foundation of a long-term strategic partnership with Growthpoint. He underscored the exceptional sales performance, with Athena achieving approximately R850 million in sales and Apollo around R580 million, prompting the decision to construct both towers in a single phase due to strong demand. Kloeck noted that the scale of sales and market response firmly positions Olympus as one of the most significant residential launches in the Johannesburg market. At the same time, its hospitality-led amenity mix and prominent location reinforce its iconic status on the Sandton skyline.

From a hospitality perspective, David Higgs, Co-Founder and Chef at Marble Hospitality Group, described the development as closely aligned with Marble’s decade-long journey and experience-driven philosophy. As the group celebrates its 10th anniversary, he explained that Olympus allows Marble to extend its curated dining, lifestyle and experiential ethos into a residential environment, including hotel-style rooms, a signature restaurant, a pantry concept and hospitality-led amenities. Higgs characterised the offering as “comfortable luxury”, comparable to international lifestyle hospitality models, where personalised service, curated events and refined yet relaxed spaces create a seamless living experience. Collectively, the partnership between Growthpoint, Tricolt and Marble positions Olympus as a transformative, hospitality-integrated precinct investment that will enhance the Sandton Summit node and contribute meaningfully to the continued evolution of Sandton’s urban skyline.
