With the Indian Ocean as a backdrop, and kilometres of pristine coastal forest, Renishaw Hills on the KZN South Coast is ideally situated for the Wildlife ACT Trail Run fundraiser which starts at Premier Resort Cutty Sark, Scottburgh on Sunday, 20 October. Participants competing in this run (or walk) will be contributing towards the protection of local wildlife – an important ethos for Renishaw Hills and the residents of this mature lifestyle estate.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to welcome new visitors to Renishaw Hills’ expansive coastal trails and showcase the incredible daily lifestyle our residents enjoy,” said Barto van Der Merwe, Managing Director of Renishaw Property Developments, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Crookes Brothers Limited.

“Conservation and sustainable living are at the heart of this development with 40km of trails winding through the coastal forest, ideal for hiking, biking, and birdwatching. With the incredible biodiversity found here, and our residents’ contribution through active conservation citizenry, we’re proud to continue this legacy through our support of Wildlife ACT, an organisation that does so much for animal conservation.”

Wildlife ACT actively advances conservation by initiating, implementing, and managing monitoring projects on game reserves for endangered wildlife species and priority species. To fund these monitoring projects, Wildlife ACT runs a wildlife volunteer programme with conservation volunteers contributing through time, effort, and funds.

Teegan Whiteley, organiser of this Wildlife Act fundraiser, said: “We wanted to do a coastal trail run along trails that are established and well-maintained, which is why we chose Renishaw Hills. These trails go through lovely, indigenous forest as well as farmland which gives the participants a little bit of everything as they walk or run on the day.”

Renishaw Hills forms part of the 1 300ha Renishaw Coastal Precinct, which is transforming 80% of the land into a stunning conservation area. This approach creates one of South Africa’s largest and most unique developments, offering a harmonious blend of modern living and nature.
