As part of Arup’s innovative workspace in Johannesburg, the newly designed café area by ThinkSpace, a bespoke interior architecture studio, embodies a perfect blend of style, functionality, and community spirit. Founded in 1992, ThinkSpace is managed by six partners and supported by 24 dedicated specialists committed to delivering client-focused, tailored business solutions through cutting-edge design and management processes.

Flooded with natural light from expansive windows, the café area creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and collaboration. The use of earthy tones in the wooden furniture and bench seating is complemented by vibrant burnt orange upholstery, adding a touch of energy to the environment. This aligns seamlessly with Arup’s collaborative and innovative culture.

The kitchen area, featuring contemporary cabinetry and a textured subway-tiled backsplash, provides a practical yet sophisticated zone for refreshments, consistent with ThinkSpace’s “on time, in budget” approach that has seen them complete over 300,000 square meters in turnkey projects in the last five years.

Unique design elements, such as perforated wooden panels, add character and texture, while the high-top communal table and cosy corner seating offer flexibility for both informal meetings and casual breaks. Thoughtfully placed greenery enhances the ambience, fostering a connection to nature and creating a refreshing oasis within the workspace.

This café area is not just a spot for coffee—it’s a strategically designed space where teams can connect, unwind, and recharge, reflecting the expertise and creativity that ThinkSpace brings to its interior architecture projects.
