Nthabiseng Kubheka
RATP Dev South Africa
General Manager

The newly formed consortium, Sihamba Sonke Mobility, is set to transform the urban rail landscape in South Africa by pooling the strengths and expertise of leading industry players.

This diversified local consortium includes GIBB Crede, African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), Motseng Investment Holdings, Alstom, AIH Engineering, Nozala, and Unitrans. The consortium is further strengthened by the strategic involvement of Nthabiseng Kubheka, General Manager of RATP Dev South Africa, focusing on socio-economic development.

Sihamba Sonke Mobility plans to redefine its role by engaging seasoned local investors and renowned global partners to align its objectives with South Africa’s national priorities. With their impressive track record in promoting socio-economic growth, these partners bring in a wealth of experience and innovation.

Reflecting on the success of Bombela Operating Company (PTY) LTD, which launched South Africa’s first rapid rail—the Gautrain—14 years ago, Sihamba Sonke Mobility is positioned to leverage this model of public-private partnership. The consortium is committed to maintaining Gautrain’s benchmark of excellence while spearheading new projects that contribute positively to the community and the broader South African economy.

The Gautrain’s punctuality rate stands at an impressive 98%. This result underscores our team’s dedication to providing safe, reliable and comfortable journeys for all.
Since 2010, this modern rail system connects Pretoria to Johannesburg in just 40 minutes. So far, Gautrain’s team of 2 100 members has served 192.8 million passengers!

Sihamba Sonke Mobility prioritises the development of a world-class passenger rail sector, centering around the iconic Gautrain, to drive economic growth and enhance transportation accessibility for all South Africans.
